It is a bit long but watch the whole thing..very interesting. As somone who has bed shared for a couple of years now, I am glad they talk about how there are factors that make it safe or unsafe.

that is very interesting. that is actually OUR newsguy here in wisconsin. i totally recognized him when the video came up!
I think that you should share this on facebook. More people need to be aware of this. This was very interesting facts. GO BREASTFEEDING!! Although, I am not against thoughs that do have to bottle feed for reasons known to them.
that is so interesting, and SO sad that deaths like that happen at all. it's a little too close to home right now with our little guy still so new. i don't co-sleep because it doesn't work for me at all, or formula feed for that matter, but still, just thinking about it makes me so sad. thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing this. That ad they have running with the headboard/tombstone makes me so sad. I'm glad the media dug deeper.
Thank you for posting. Very interesting stuff.
This was so interesting to watch. Thanks for sharing it with us! Any death of a baby is heart breaking.
I liked this news report. I think they did a good job covering both sides of the debate. That was really interesting about the link between bottle-feeding and infant death while co-sleeping.
I have a question for you co-sleepers--how long/until how old do you allow your kids to sleep with you?
Becca, Bella slept with us till we night weaned her(@19 months) She would start out in her crib and then @ 1am come in with us. Once she was no longer waking to nurse, she would just stay in her bed all night. We are beginning this with Leo by putting him in his own bed at the beginning of the night. I am however, less concerned with when I can get him out as I was with Bella. I have realized how fast they grow up and I just LOVE having my sweet little man snuggled up next to me. I know I have a goal but if he needs to be with us longer, I'm not going to stress.
THanx so much for sharing this. Love it and am putting it on Facebook. (I love a good contraversy..though it shouldnt be! :)
No surprise that I got the quiz wrong, but should have got the "bottle fed" right, as I knew that the stats for black moms who breastfeed is a heartwrenching, maddening 11 percent. ELEVEN!!! So these deaths will continue until WIC stops giving away formula and this rate goes up. It needs to be a cultural change, and it is slow coming. Thanks for letting me rant.
Love your blog. Same design as mine, right now, weird enough! :)
Sarah--thanks! Three-year-old James started sleeping in our bed pretty much exclusively a few weeks ago (or has it been months now?). It gets a little crowded, especially when 16-month-old Adam comes in to nurse. Lucky for us, Adam only likes to sleep in his bed. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure Jon would sleep on the floor. I was wondering how those who cosleep as a practice do it.
