Beautiful Breech Birth

I just read this birth story. I love how the mother is so calm and even smiling! I guess I don't know what I would do if I had a breech baby but this sure is inspiring and I am glad it went so well for them.

That is a beautiful story. Since I have already had a c-section, I would not try to deliver a breech baby naturally because the risk of uterine rupture is greater than I am willing to take, but I do applaud Katrina for making the choice that was best for her and her baby. She showed responsibility in getting the non-stress tests and monitoring her fluids. I think if the tests had come back showing her baby in fetal distress, she wouldn't have hesitated to get a c-section or at least to labor in the hospital with an excellent NICU, should one be necessary, but because her baby was "as happy as can be," her home water birth was still a viable option. She knew there were risks whatever option she decided to take, and she went with the one that she felt most at peace with, which is exactly what I think you would do, Sarah, should you ever have a breech (that is, do whatever you feel at most peace with). What resulted was a fulfilling birthing experience that the mother's only regret was not getting it on video. Beautiful!

Hi Sarah... so I just stumbled upon your blog and saw that you had linked to my birth story! Thanks for doing that!

As Becca commented, I definitely would have gone to the hospital had my baby been in distress or I felt that I needed to. Fortunately, I didn't and had a wonderful experience! I can honestly say that this birth was easy, breech and all! :-)
