"Due Dates"

Here is a link to a great blog post on due dates. It is called "Poop on Due Dates"

I see such a stark contrast between births where women and their providers are more relaxed about when babies come and ones that expect the baby to come on or before this arbitrary date. I see the stress it causes women and have actually felt this before myself eventhough I have never gone post dates. Read this article, it is full of information and is very accurate.

Thanks for sharing. One of my friends from provo said the same thing to me. A due date is just that, a "date" It doesn't mean anything. Let your body and baby be the guide! Thanks! If I would of known this with our first, I wouldn't have been so uptight, but thankfully like you I have never even gotten to my due date. But for those of you who have, don't stress, baby will come when ready.

I say "poop on due dates" too. I had to fight with my OBGYN to let me go past 40 weeks, even though I knew I didn't ovulate until 3 weeks into my cycle (which was supported by all 4 ultrasounds they did), making me only 37 weeks gestationally instead of the "normal" 38 weeks at 40 weeks into my cycle . Adam came at 40 weeks 6 days, weighing in at 6 lbs 14 oz. 6 days late? I think not.

That's a great idea to only give people a vague "mid-March" answer when they ask for a due date. I think it would be a problem for people who REALLY want to know an exact day, and also hard to not let myself think about one day as an "official" due date.
